Dear Pastor and congregation,
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Another Shalom from Jerusalem where God is doing some mighty things amongst us in spite of many difficulties and oppressions.
We are settled down now and are very well adjusted to the living conditions here in Israel. The only serious remaining difficulty is to secure the renewal of our residence permit. Please pray for us for our clergymen residence visa that we have enjoyed without problem for the last 12 years but now because of the harassment of some local people and because the radical right wing Shas party is in control of the ministry of religion, they are giving us a lot of hardship. We have been promised the renewal, but we are yet to see it in writing on our passports. Please pray for us.
On the other hand, we have individuals and other denominations whom you can consider losers and don't know how to win a single person to the Lord, they too have been oppressing us with all kinds of attacks verbal including verbal ones. For example, a letter is being circulated this week slandering me and my wife and our ministry. But in the midst of all this, we have been able to find a good condo. It used to belong to a deceased preacher whose wife was Finnish and she is retired back in her homeland of Finland. She wanted to sell the condo even at a discounted price to a pastor that will use it for a Bible study. (The is the hand of God, this is not the work of man). She sold it to us for U.S. $ 150,000.-(With taxes and fees it is U.S.$ 158,000.- ) and she donated us all the furniture free as a gift, a saving of U.S.$ 10,000.- !!! So now we have a furnished place ready for the ministry. When God burdened my heart 5 years ago, at the advice of pastor Tom Knauf and the encouragement of pastor Walt Stowe, who both came and saw our congregation and ministry, He burdened my heart to start praying for a church condo in Jerusalem, I started praying for this big project and how God would touch and impress your hearts to help us. It was too big of a dream even for Ruth and I and we looked at condo's and the average prices were U.S. $ 230,000.- ; and to say the least, this transaction is a seal of God's approval. We need U.S. $ 110,000.- by December 2004/January 2005. We have begun the purchase process and we are praying for the Piggy Banks to produce fruit in December. We are praying for a hearty contribution them that will make Jerusalem Church Condo fund raiser project a success in that both the cost of the condo and the purchase taxes and legal fees will be covered.
Beginning September 25th we will be starting a Bible study in English in this condo. It will minister to both the English speaking people and to the Hebrew University students on Mount Scopus in Jerusalem. All the while our own ministry is growing number wise and spiritual growth wise. Thank you so much for allowing us to minister here in the great city of Jerusalem.
Please pray for our visitation efforts to see new people saved and new people baptized. We are asking the Lord Jesus for 100 people saved and 100 baptized this term on the field.
" Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course and be glorified, even as it is with you: And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men ".
