Dear Pastor and congregation,
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This progress report comes to you early since a long enough time has lapsed since our last one. This is mainly due to the contents of this prayer letter.
For one, my wife Ruth and I want to thank all of you who have prayed for her health and recovery. The surgery was successful and now she is in the healing process, which according to what the doctor said this morning is going to take 6 months to a year. I personally feel very serene on the inside about this whole matter because it was all in God's timing. Ruth was born with a birth defect in her spinal cord that she has carried all of these years and it only surfaced at the right time and the right place. It was the right time because we had just finished a very stressful but fruitful third term on the field and had begun our furlough when this problem surfaced. The right place also, because the doctor who performed the surgery was Dr. Joseph Mayo, the grandson of the Dr. Mayo who started the Mayo Clinic in Minneapolis, MN and he is in Yorba Linda, CA where we are based. God is in control and we feel his loving hand in all of this. So Ruth had the chance to have a good surgery and now has the opportunity to recuperate peacefully and quietly and prepare herself for the forth term on the field in the Middle East, in Jerusalem the city of God.
The number two reason for this letter is that I have sitting on my desk medical bills with big co-payments from Kristi's surgery that I mentioned to you in our last letter, and Ruth's medical exams, MRI, and huge hospital surgery bills. As well, the surgeon's bills have started coming our way. I am guessing a figure of around $10,000. We need your help. I am asking you to help pray with us for these medical expenses that makes our hearts heavy. We know that our Sovereign God who has permitted this to happen in His own timing is able, and we are confident that the Lord Jesus Christ who shed His Blood on the Cross to save us, is able to provide our every need through the work of the Holy Spirit in stirring people's hearts. The Bible says, "Yes."
Other than a few rescheduling of churches to have been with my wife for two weeks, our furlough is resumed and is going well. We are seeing souls saved, others re-dedicate their lives and others surrender to full time Christian service. This is also the witness of the pastors that we have visited. It is our greatest joy to be used of the Lord Jesus Christ in the matter of missions and soul winning! We feel humble and unworthy. May God bless you for your investment in our ministry in Israel.
We are going to have a wonderful Thanksgiving this year thanking the Lord Jesus for sparing Ruth's health and life and giving her a successful surgery.
Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance!
Yours for JESUS' name,
From the Land of the Prophets,
