Dear Pastor and congregation,
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. At 4:15 on the morning of September 2002, my home church pastor Dr. Victor Sadaka went to be with the Lord. This is an incident that will bear its mark on my soul for the rest of my life. I thank all of you who prayed for him when I requested for it. If you will, please remember to pray for consolation for his wife who was highly dependent upon him.
As you already know we have just completed our third term on the field and are on furlough for a year now. But the surprisingly happy news is that in our last progress report from Jerusalem, Israel, we told you that in this last year alone we had 12 saved and baptized 8. Praise the name of the Lord Jesus, one week before our departure we won 3 more people to the Lord making the total for last year alone, 15 saved and 8 baptized; making the total for the whole term, 50 saved and 11 baptized; making the total for the 3 churches (the product of the 3 terms on the field) for this term alone; 102 saved and 38 baptized!
You cannot imagine how thankful we are to all of you who have invested in us and especially those of you who have invested in our ministry since its inception in May of 1981, the oldest one being Rev. Randy See pastor on Freedom Baptist Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
We have now been on furlough for 2 months. We are seeing great results visiting our supporting churches because not only are we witnessing good responses to the altar calls, but it is even more, in two cases we were blessed by great numbers being sensitive to the work of the Holy Spirit of God and flooding the altars with tears. And more wonderfully we are seeing people getting saved. Last Sunday we had a person saved Sunday morning in one church and another one saved Sunday night in another church. We thank God the Father for using us. When God chooses to bless us, He simply blesses despite our shortcomings!
Recently, on August 8th, our daughter Kristi had a tonsillectomy. Also, in an emergency, two days ago and on Sept. 16th, my wife Ruth was admitted to the hospital for a major surgery on her spinal chord. Her left leg, then her right leg, then her hands, had become dysfunctional due to a deformation in her spinal chord that was topped with Arthritis and caused squeezing on the main nerve going through the loops of her vertebrae. She was taken in to the operating room at 5:30 p.m. and at 8:40 p.m. she was brought out from a very successful surgery. God's hand was in the operation. We covet your prayers for her full and speedy recovery. The level of pain from the long and deep cut along her spine is still high. Such surgeries, even though we have insurance, are very expensive. We thus appeal to you for help. Medical bills from Kristi's surgery have also started coming in. This is a hard time for us. Would you please take the matter before the Lord Jesus in prayer on our behalf?
Please pray for continued fruitfulness in visiting our churches (never presume on the Goodness of God), for journey mercies in our travels, and for our converts back in Jerusalem, Israel who are left in good hands.
